江福生（生卒年不详），字春波。明代雕刻大家。幼时为后母所逐，苏州雕工某怜而育之，遂习其艺。与蜀中长素道人相契。暇取藤瘿古木、湘竹，为砚山、笔架、盘盂、臂阁、尘尾、如意、禅倚、短榻、坐团之类，摩弄光泽，皎洁照人。富贵家莫不持重货以求之。善治美酒素馔，故名人才士接踵于门。与唐寅、祝允明、文征明父子，往来尤多。卒年近九十。 该笔筒为晚明木雕大家江福生之作，随形而雕，使用去地深浮雕技法，上雕刻“行旅图”，刀法精工到位，笔筒色深如栗，使人回味无穷，别具典雅其作品沉香木雕偶有传世。留白处阴刻书“福生”款，薄地阳刻篆书“江”字。
