这个天字罐大口，短颈，肩圆，腹收敛，大底，线条优美，十分庄重圆润，玲珑俊秀。肩部饰仰莲纹。罐身龙纹，分别有五彩祥云围绕，头发冲冠，在祥云中奔跑玩耍，釉色细腻莹润，肉红胎，底足露胎无釉，有较多黄褐色及黑褐斑点，为糊米底，底部以钴料单书一个“天”字，无栏无边。底款写“天”字据说是过去编排文件是按照《千字文》开篇顺序“天地玄黄，宇宙洪荒”编排的，“天”排第一，所以名“天”字罐。
