此碗口大微敛，深腹，至底渐收，小圈足。宋、金时期南北方都有黑瓷生产，产量比较大，器型主要是碗，盘、罐、坛、枕等，以碗的产量最大，这与宋朝的斗茶司俗有关。这些黑釉碗虽都以黑色釉为基本装饰，但经过特殊加工或窑变，形成了很多种类。
