一般来讲，铜红料由于所含氧化铜在高温下极易挥发，对烧成条件极为敏感。稍有不慎，其表面呈色就会出现深浅不一的差异，成品率极低，而雍正的传统高温釉品种——祭红釉却能做到红色鲜亮，色调一致。据史料记载，此类釉色除了符合中国传统的审美情趣以外，一般是帝王祭礼器用色，故名“祭红”，所用祭器见于郊日坛祭日。雍正时期，随着清王朝的日益巩固，国祭家祀活动日趋正常，各种仪礼和规范日前因后果完善，因而这类祭器制作要求也就极高，呈现出一种严谨、优雅的气度。这件祭红釉不仅造型规整，釉色鲜亮，而且口沿与底足的处理具有典型的雍正官窑的特征，可以说是一件标准的雍正官窑单色釉瓷器的精品。
