A PALE CELADON AND RUSSET JADE ‘DOG’, MING DYNASTY
China, 16th - 17th century. The recumbent short-tailed hound twisting its head to the right with its legs tucked in, the flat base with three sets of apertures to attach the toggle to a garment. With its ears perked, behind the head curls a finely incised tress of hair suggesting a mythical aspect to the figure. The partly translucent stone of a pale celadon and dark russet tone with cloudy inclusions.

Good condition with expected old wear, traces of use, minuscule nibbling, general signs of weathering and erosion.

明代青白留皮玉犬

中國，十六至十七世紀。臥犬後腿彎曲於身體下，尾巴向側面掃去，下巴靠在前爪上，杏仁狀的眼睛雕刻生動，長鼻子，耳朵貼在頭部兩側。 淡青色半透明玉料，帶有赤褐色脈絡和分散的白色絮狀物。
