本器为海螺形，通施孔雀蓝釉，发色纯正，施釉均匀温润尔雅，可见蓝绿深沉，妍亮清新，碧翠雅丽。整体器型秀美端庄，曲线流畅婉转。孔雀蓝釉亦称孔雀绿釉，也称“法绿釉”、“法翠釉”、“翡翠釉”、“吉翠釉”，是一种以氧化铜为着色剂，以牙硝为主要熔剂的中温色釉。因呈色翠绿而透亮，极似孔雀羽毛上之绿色而得名。创烧于宋、金时期的北方民窑，而景德镇则自元代开始生产孔雀绿釉瓷器，至清雍正时期，孔雀蓝釉瓷器的产量和质量达到历史上的最高峰。
