此炉体量适中，铸造颇为精道，直口外侈，鼓腹圆垂，圈足，线条圆弧流畅，造型典雅端庄。两肩装饰对称狮首耳，系高浮雕而成，狮面凶猛威武，宽口阔鼻，狮鬃卷曲浓密，刻画细腻，生动自然。炉中央，有长方形减地阳文六字楷书款“大明宣德年制”，底部龙款，字地平整，字口清晰干净，字体端正规范，此类炉型双款极为少见。外表柔腻蕴润，器形古朴拙重，是一件难得的鼓形炉佳品。
