勾云形玉佩，似云，似枭，采用拟物与抽象相结合的手法，以平面减地打磨的工艺，表现出了极具张性的美，是红山文化先民高超的艺术水平与神灵崇拜相结合的产物。一般器体为扁平的长方形，中心镂空一弯勾，为旋涡形，四角对称地向外呈卷勾状；在正面或两面琢磨出与器体轮廓走向一致的浅凹槽。已发现的勾云形玉佩均置于死者的胸前，说明其非同寻常的神圣意义。
