玉壶春瓶是瓶式之一。撇口、细颈，圆腹，圈足。定窑、汝窑、耀州窑、磁州窑普遍烧制，是宋瓷中具有时代特点的典型器物。元代南北瓷窑多有烧造。前期器型多承袭宋制，晚期颈部粗短，下腹部肥大，河北保定出土的景德镇窑青花双狮戏球纹八方玉壶春瓶十分精美，明，清的瓶式大致相同，口侈、颈较宋短，腹大足肥，有各种色釉和彩绘装饰。这种瓶的造型定型于宋代，历经宋、元、明、清、民国直至现代，成为中国瓷器造型中的一种典型器物。
