深腹，斜直壁，圈足无釉露铁胎，是建盏中最经典、最具代表的器形。盏身内外的黑褐色釉面上均有细长如兔毛状的条纹。宋徽宗的《大观茶论》中评论：「盏色贵青黑，玉毫条达者上。」蔡襄在《茶录》中说斗茶「以绀黑兔毫盏为贵」，皆指拍品式样的青黑地兔毫者。
