官窑是宋代五大名窑之一，以天青釉为主，釉在高温烧制时，釉熔融向下垂流，器口沿处釉层变薄，隐露的胎骨呈紫黑色，故称为“紫口”。以紫金土为胎，胎中氧化铁含量高，圈足露胎处呈铁黑色故称为“铁足”。釉质肥润，由于胎釉膨胀系数不同，烧造冷却时，釉层收缩率大，形成裂纹，纹片纵横交错，纹线变幻莫测，使瓷器有古朴凝重的美感。
