可以預知下個和喀什米爾藍寶一樣絕跡的就是緬甸紅寶石，而在緬甸曼德勒東北方向90英里的地方，有一個叫做抹谷(MOGOK)的地區，則無疑是世界最重要的紅寶石產區，抹谷區長約20英里，海拔4000英尺，出產的高品質紅寶石，舉世聞名。抹谷地區何時開始開採礦石，已經無從可考，但周圍地區曾出土史前工具。據早期紀錄顯示，緬甸國王於1597年下令保護抹谷礦區，使其免遭當地撣族統治。在此開採礦物十分艱苦，直至1780年時，人們不得不使用奴隸來補充當地人手，所以在此區出產的寶石彌足珍貴。而本拍品主石為2.11克拉緬甸抹谷(MOGOK)天然無燒鴿血紅紅寶石，絕無僅有，更是懂貨的收藏家不可錯失的逸品。
