琮式瓶始见于宋，一般认为始出现于南宋，但是现已发现，自北宋以来就有琮式瓶的生产。宋代盛行仿古之风，这种瓶式系仿照新石器时代良渚文化的玉琮外形加以变化而成。南宋官窑、龙泉窑均有这种器形。
