SELTENE FIGUR EINES BUDDHA. Indien. Wohl 11./12. Jh. Knochen, geschnitzt und poliert. Mit Resten von Pigmenten und einer ausdrucksstarken Alterspatina. Sitzend in padmasana und mit den Händen in anjali mudra. Die Ohren sind von schweren Kreolen ausgedehnt, dazu trägt ist er Armreifen, ein Collier und Hüftschmuck über einem fein gestreiften dhoti. Von den Armreifen aus schwingen Bänder auf den Sockel. Auf dem Sockel kleine Darstellungen von Hanuman, Ganesha und weiteren hinduistischen Gottheiten.Die Figur ist auf der Rückseite ebenso detailreich und fein geschnitzt, wie auf der Vorderseite. Die Darstellung ist überaus lebendig und besitzt große körperliche Präsenz. Höhe 9,2cm, Breite 9,2cm, Tiefe 3,5cm. Zustand A/B. Provenienz:-Deutsche Privatsammlung.
