Signature by the artist: "After a painting by Chen Laolian (Chen Hongshou, 1598-1652) and using the style of Jin Shoumen (Jin Nong, 1687-1763) painted on the river in spring." Two seals of the artist: "Seal of Shen Zhaohan" (Shen Zhaohan yin), "Xinhai". Cared for with love by his wife the demon-like Zhong Kui is depicted drinking wine in great contentment while the three children are tasting the wine from the big vessel in front of them.
