|注释：|此为朱自清1924年五月写于步瀛书屋的手稿，钤“朱自清印”白文。题目出自《论语•学而》：“子曰：‘君子食无求饱，居无求安，敏于事而慎于言，就有道而正焉，可谓好学也已’”。朱自清首句便点出文心：“取道而就正，亦君子之虚心也”。全篇着重在虚心二字。他先着眼于有道之人，认为其为“事言之准”，可以之为校正自己的标准。其次，这种以他人为镜鉴的自省方式，也能体现出君子的虚心。文后附有“赋得分秧及初夏”五言四韵诗一首，为《东坡八首》之一中诗句“分秧及初夏，渐喜风叶举”。诗云：“夏令初交及，田夫正插秧。深埋分扞格，直种定成行。万顷苗匀秀，千亩颖泒扬。三春虽已去，四月尚堪当”。全诗状写农事之景，颔联如见秧苗匀齐之景。
