如意相传由古代的爪杖演变而来，千年流变，渐被赋予“吉祥如意”之象征。此件黄杨木竹节形如意，保留根瘤的天然形态，加以雕刻制成，风格稚拙古朴。柄首及周身雕刻有竹节为饰，柄身似枯枝，线条自然柔和，黄杨木质地细腻，包浆色泽华美，雕工奇巧，为清早期木雕上品。竹因其虚心有节，寓文人气节清高、品性坚韧，而常被用于制作各种文房用品及赏玩之器。本品通体打磨光润，琢两竹枝相交，线条完美，弯曲却显遒劲，现功力于不经意处。可充书斋雅玩，置于案上，相伴文思。
