Roman, Imperial Period, ca. 1st to 3rd century CE. A delicate mold-formed, semi-translucent glass unguent-holding container with a concave base and smooth pontil scar, a reverse piriform body with a projecting lower rib, a slightly-constricted neck base, a narrow tubular neck, and a thin, flared rim, all in a beautiful cobalt blue hue. The weathering film accumulated within the body has created a lovely layer of silvery iridescence which clings to the interior walls and only helps to accentuate the vessel's deep sapphire color. Size: 1.875" W x 3.375" H (4.8 cm x 8.6 cm). Provenance: private East Coast, USA collection All items legal to buy/sell under U.S. Statute covering cultural patrimony Code 2600, CHAPTER 14, and are guaranteed to be as described or your money back. A Certificate of Authenticity will accompany all winning bids. We ship worldwide and handle all shipping in-house for your convenience. #135009
