Meiji era, late 19th/early 20th centuryWorked in typical gold and silver overlay, the hinged cover decorated with a snow-covered Mount Fuji and two sailing boats in the background, two thatched dwellings nestled beneath pine trees and a bridge spanning across a lake in the foreground, the inside of the cover engraved with peonies, the sides with seagulls flying over sailing boats, inscribed on the base in gilt Kakuei Tanaka, Minister of Finance, Japan.5.5cm x 12.2cm x 18cm.
