A 17th Century carved wood statue of Guanyin "the Buddha of Mercy", with a Lingzhi mushroom in hand (symbolizing health and longevity), from China. This statue was covered in red lacquer and gold (now weathered), with traces of black seen in the hair and the robes. H: 17 1/2" (44.5cm) Condition: Slight and more significant cracks are seen on the right side of the statue, most noticeably where her left hand extends from the sleeve of the robe and in the body of the mushroom. The paint and lacquer are weathered in all areas. The tip of her right pinkie finger is chipped.
