A rectangular Qing Dynasty ink stone with rounded corners in a simple, smooth, dark wood stand and lid. The upper portion of the stone is carved with the torso and tail of a dragon emerging from the clouds, breathing or expelling air. The spaces between the dragon and clouds form the wells for wet ink. The lower portion of the stone is faintly concave to allow dry ink to be ground and mixed. Two line of Chinese character etched in the back of the ink stone L:7 1/2 in.(19 cm) W: 5 1/4in.(13.3 cm) H:1 5/8 in.(4.2 cm) Condition:in overall good condition with some expected sratch and wear on the wood case
