A Very fine 16th C. Chinese Ming Dynasty Jiajing Reign Period (1521 - 1567) Royal porcelain lidded jar. Stoutly potted in globular body, gently tapered toward the flat base, bulbous to the shoulder, with low straight neck to the wide opening. Having simply bud finial atop the tapered cylindrical lid. The exterior decorated with cobalt blue under-glazed hand painting depicted group of children in various pursuit within terraced playground landscape. Banded numerously around rim, neck, shoulder, and foot with auspicious patters, including lappets and fruiting abundant against geometrical diaper band. The porcelain conformed all required specimen to be high valued Chinese porcelain wares, with finest material, the whiteness, the glaze, the carving, and the shape. Without overlap the outlines of the design, well carved, clear, subtle, and distinct. The foot rim left unglazed, revealed pale-creme ground and grayish speckles of firing marks enclosing the white underglaze receded central base. The underside bear a reign mark, a vertical six under-glazed blue scrip characters, Made in The Years of Jiajing Reign Period of Great Ming Dynasty.
