A Large Chinese jade carved lidded vase. In a compressed baluster shaped body leading to a waisted prominent neck and raised upon a splayed oval foot base. Domed lid crowned with simply flaring finial. Two scrolling tendril handles decorating the neck. The main body carved in reliefs detail depicted waterside landscape scene over finely polished body. Jade shows grayish celadon color with attractive sporadic slight russet hues in varying spots over milky moist appearance surface. While working with Doctors from different cultures Jim became an avid collector of Chinese items, His widow has placed his treasured articles to be sold at auction.
