1st millennium BC. A mixed group of bronze appliqués, including two accompanied by typed and signed notes by the late W.G. Lambert, Professor of Assyriology, University of Birmingham, 1970-1993, which state: (W-62) 'Bronze Attachment in Form of Horse 47 x 70 mm. This shows a prancing horse in relief, done in repoussé work with some engraved finishing and attached eye and ear. Two loops on the back were for a cord or strap to pass through. This comes from west central Asia and is a form of steppe art, precise dates not yet certain but probably c. 600-300 B.C. The hind leg is broken and missing, and there is a hole ny the ear, otherwise it is in fair condition.'; (W-63) 'Bronze Attachment in Form of Horse, 48 x 70mm. This shows a prancing horse in relief, done in repoussé work with some engraved finishing and with attached eye and ear. Two loops are fixed on the back (one now broken) for a cord or strap to pass through. This comes from west central Asia and is in a form of steppe art, precise dates not yet certain, but probably c. 600-300 B.C. It is generally in good condition, though the tail and front paw may not be quite complete.'; an ibex with legs folded beneath the body; and a dog. 82 grams total, 39-69mm (1 1/2 - 2 3/4").
