1st-2nd century AD. A bronze oil lamp with stepped base, body formed as a male head with filler hole above the crown, nozzle emerging from the chin, lug handle to the brow. See Rolland, H. Bronzes Antiques de Haute Provence, Paris, 1965, item 358 for type. 136 grams, 85mm (3 1/4"). Property of a gentleman; acquired in the late 1960s-early 1970s. Fine condition.
