3rd century AD. A silver finger ring with D-section hoop, transverse ledges to the facetted shoulders, ellipsoid plaque with raised panel, possibly later 'IVL' insciption (for Julius? Julia?"). Cf. Ruseva-Slokoska, L. Roman Jewellery, Sofia, 1991, item 251 for type. 4.51 grams, 23mm overall, 18.52mm internal diameter (approximate size British Q 1/2, USA 8 1/4, Europe 18.12, Japan 17) (1"). From a Wirral, UK, collection; previously in a private collection formed 1965-1975. Very fine condition.
