3rd century AD. A silver finger ring with D-section hoop, broad sloping shoulders, discoid bezel with inset red glass cloison, intaglio of the goddess Flora (Greek Chloris) with staff and frond. Cf. Ruseva-Slokoska, L. Roman Jewellery, Sofia, 1991, item 246 for type. 10.2 grams, 27mm overall, 18.47x14.9mm internal diameter (approximate size British H 1/2, USA 4, Europe 6.81, Japan 6) (1"). Property of a private collector; acquired before 1975. Very fine condition.
