1st century AD. A silver brooch of Aucissa type comprising an openwork bow with lateral pins, wolf-head footplate, ball finial, hinged pin to the reverse. Cf. Hattatt, R. Brooches of Antiquity, Oxford, 1987, item 841. 8 grams, 44mm (1 3/4"). From a private collection; formed 1965-1975. Very fine condition.
