3rd century AD. A silver ring comprising a D-section hoop with conical shoulders, discoid bezel with incised legend 'VTERE / FELICITR' for Utere Feliciter 'use (this) happily'. Cf. Ruseva-Slokoska, L. Roman Jewellery, Sofia, 1991, item 208. 14.34 grams, 27.15mm overall, 17.32mm internal diameter (approximate size British N 1/2, USA 6 3/4, Europe 14.35, Japan 13) (1"). Property of a gentleman; acquired in the late 1960s-early 1970s. Fine condition. A large wearable size.
