2nd-1st millennium BC. A group of two bronze amulets comprising: one a stamp seal in the form of a bull's head bull's head with curved horns, pointed ears and rounded muzzle, compartmented to the lower face with eyes and mouth, loop handle to the reverse; and one an amulet modelled in the round accompanied by a typed and signed note by the late W.G. Lambert, Professor of Assyriology at the University of Birmingham, 1970-1993, which states: 'Bronze Bull's Head, 33 x 25 x 17mm. This is a head in the round with short curving horns, big eyes, snout and mount well depicted and three ridges over the snout. there is a suspension ring at the back, and the underside is hollow. This comes from Iran or west central Asia and dates to c. 1000-800 b.C. It is a nicely modelled piece and in fair condition.' 32 grams total, 33-35mm (1 1/4"). The Signo collection, the property of a West London businessman, formed in the late 1980s-early 1990s; collection numbers W-333, W-151, academically researched and catalogued by the late Professor Lambert in the early 1990s.
