Mainly 3rd-2nd millennium BC. A mixed group of stone drum-shaped stamp seals, including fourteen accompanied by typed and signed notes by the late W.G. Lambert, Professor of Assyriology, University of Birmingham, 1970-1993 which state: (3303) 'Bifacial Stamp Sea of Dark Stone, 15 x 8 mm. This is a round, thick disc, pierced through the centre. Around the edges are decorative lines. The one face shows a plant such as a tulip in flower. the other side shows a distinctive bloom. This is a seal from west central Asia, c. 2300-1900 B.C. It is an unusual design on the latter side. However, there is a little damage and the engraving has been scraped out.' (R-29) 'Bifacial Stamp Seal of Red Stone 15.5 x 15 x 5 mm. This is a disc, round, pierced for suspension. The designs, which are done entirely with the drill, show a plant with central stem and four leaves each side, and a pattern consisting of a simple cross and crescent or V shaped filling the otherwise vacant triangles. This is a seal from west central Asia, c. 2300-2000 B.C. It is a good example of its type and in fine condition.' (R-71) 'Bifacial Stamp Seal of Lapis Lazuli 8 x 8 x 4 mm. This is a round disc pierced for suspension. The two faces both have designs composed of drill holes alone. The one shows a plant with central straight stem and two side shoots from ground level, the other apparently shows a heraldic eagle: head sideways at the top, wings spread at the sides, and tail feathers down. This is a seal from west central Asia, c.2300-2000 B,C. It is in very good condition.' (R-112) 'Bifacial Stamp Seal of White Stone 11.5 x 11.5 x 6 mm. This is a round pierced disc, with flat faces and a groove around the edges. Both sides have design of drill holes, and essentially the same designs on both faces: four groups of dots in triangular shape, based on the centre. This comes from west central Asia and dates to 2300-2000 B.C. It is in very good condition.' (R-116) 'Bifacial Stamp Seal of White Stone 11 x 11 x 6 mm. This is a thick round disc pierced for suspension. Both faces show designs of drill holes. The one shows a plant with bloom on the central stem and two side shoots. The other has a pattern formed of a simple cross with dots filling the triangles so created. This comes from west central Asia and dates to c. 2300-2000 B.C. It is in very good condition.' (R-107) 'Bifacial Stamp Seal of White Stone 12 x 23 x 7 mm. This is a disc, pierced for suspension with flat faces. They show designs composed of drill holes. The one is a plant with three blooms, one on the central stem, two on side shoots. The other shows a pattern of four triangular shapes around a central dot. This comes from west central Asia and dates to c. 2300-2000 B.C. It is a little worn and corroded, but generally in good condition.' (R-31) 'Bifacial Stamp Seal of White Stone 14 x 14 x 8 mm. This is a thick, fat disc, pierced for suspension, with designs on each side achieved entirely with the drill. The one is a plant with single stem and three pairs of leaves from the stem. The other is a kind of swastika. This seal comes from west central Asia and dates to 2300-2000 B.C. It is in very good condition.' (R-115) 'Bifacial Stamp Seal of White Stone 11.5 x 11.5 x 5.5 mm. This is a round disc, pierced for suspension, with designs on both faces composed of drill holes. The one shows a kind of swastika, the other a plant with two side shoots and a bloom on the central stem. This comes from west central Asia and dates to c. 2300-2000 B.C. There is a little corrosion of the surface, but it remains in good condition.' (T-661) 'Stamp Seal of Bronze 47 x 458 x 15 mm. This is round, with flat face and flat back on which is mounted a handle of inverted U-shape. The design, which is both compartmented and open-work, consists of a curling snake with bird-like head, the design being engraved on the back. An outer band encloses the design and this too is marked on the back, by hatching. This seal comes from west central Asia and dates to c. 2300-2000 B,C. It is fine work, and is generally in good condition, only the rim is dented a little.' (T-622) 'Stamp Seal of Impure Lapis 14 x 14 x 6 mm. This is a round disc, pierced for suspension. Both sides have designs achieved with drill holes alone. The one side shows a quadruped with large horns, the other side a pattern formed of four groups of four dots. This comes from west central Asia and dates to c. 2300-2000 B.C. It is in good condition and is a nice example of its kind.' (T-597) 'Bifacial Stamp Seal of White Stone 14 x 17 x 6 mm. This is a round disc with flat faces and vertical sides. The designs on both faces are done in drill-holes. The one shows a plant in bloom, the other a central dot and six groups of three dots around it. This comes from west central Asia and dates to c. 2300-2000 B.C. There is a little suface [sic] corrosion, otherwise it is in good condition.' (T-612) 'Bifacial Stamp Seal of Green Stone 13.5 x 13 x 7.5 mm. This is a thick round disc with concave sides, pierced through the sides. The designs on both faces are done with drill holes alone. The one shows a curling snake, the other a swastika. This comes from west central Asia and dates to c. 2300-2000 B.C. It is a very good example of its kind, and in fine condition. (T-623) Bifacial Stamp Seal of Lapis 12 x 12 x 8.5 mm. This is a thick round disc, pierced for suspension. The two designs are done with the drill alone. The one shows a curling snake, the other a standing horned quadruped. This comes from west central Asia and dates to c. 2300-2000 B.C. It is in good condition.'; (3104) 'Stamp Seal of Translucent Veined Stone, 11 x 6mm. This is a bifacial round disc, pierced from side to side. On the one side is a walking bird with wings raised. on the other side is a standing quadruped with raised tail. This comes from west central Asia, and dates to c. 2000-1500 B.C. There is some damage to the edges, but the designs are well preserved.' 49 grams total, 10-18mm (1/2 - 3/4").
