Later 3rd millennium BC. A mixed group of bronze items, including one accompanied by a typed and signed note by W.G. Lambert, late Professor of Assyriology, University of Birmingham, 1970-1993, which states: (U-608) 'Bronze Pin with Pin-head Seal, Overall length: 125mm. Head: 21 x 21mm. The spike is now a little bent, and the edges of the head are also bent down. The head is roughly circular with a compartmented design of a rosette, with central circle and scalloped outer edge. This comes from west central Asia and dates to c. 2300-2000 B.C. The metal is in good condition: the little incrustation could be removed; two pins with mushroom-shaped heads' (Y-341, Y-344), two pins with rosette heads, a pin with bird modelled in the round (Y-744), a pin with addorsed stag and hind heads, a pin with fish(?) head (Y-742), and a domed finial (Y-340"). 203 grams total, 3.5-12.5cm (1 1/2 - 5"). The Signo collection, the property of a West London businessman, formed in the late 1980s-early 1990s; academically researched and catalogued by the late Professor Lambert in the early 1990s. [9] Fine condition, some pins broken.
