10th-4th century BC. A silver ring with crescent-section hoop and oval bezel, accompanied by a typed and signed note by the late W.G. Lambert, Professor of Assyriology, University of Birmingham, 1970-1993 which states: 'Finger Ring of Silver, 17 x 21 x 19mm. This is made of sheet silver and has a flat oval bezel and a hoop of incurving cross-section. The design on the bezel shows a standing goat with one front paw raised and a plant in front of the animal. This comes from Iran or west central Asia and dates to c. 1000-400 B.C. It is a rare item and in good condition.' 4.12 grams, 21.4mm overall, 17.05mm internal diameter (approximate size British M 1/2, USA 6 1/4, Europe 13.09, Japan 12) (3/4"). The Signo collection, the property of a West London businessman, formed in the late 1980s-early 1990s; collection number W-35, academically researched and catalogued by the late Professor Lambert in the early 1990s.
