Tang Dynasty, 618-906 AD. A bronze mirror with lobed petal design to the edge, the reverse with a frieze of two opposing peacocks(?), a mythical beast above and below, foliage in between the animals, the lobes decorated with alternating flying birds and flowers, large central pierced boss; the other side polished for use as a mirror. 867 grams, 19cm (7 1/2"). Property of a North London gentleman; formerly in the Mc Quinley collection, acquired Hong Kong between 1970-1980. [No Reserve] Fair condition.
