Late 3rd-early 1st millennium BC. A mixed group of five bronze artefacts including one accompanied by a typed and signed note by the late W.G. Lambert, Professor of Assyriology at the University of Birmingham, 1970-1993, which states: (W-153) 'Whetstone Socket of Bronze, 54 x 17 x 66mm. This is a round tube the closed end of which becomes the front parts of an ibex resting on its front paws. The head is nicely modelled with large knobbly horns, short erect ears and a long beard. This comes from Luristan and dates to c. 1000-800 B.C. It is finely modelled with the front paws being rare, but there is some damage to the tube and the animal's neck.'; one seal with four circles joined in a rough square, small circle to each corner, to the upper side a bird to each corner and standing quadruped with suspension hoop to its back to the centre; one seal in the form of a standing horse modelled in the round with suspension hoop to the back, standing on an oblong base, stamp face with eight shapes representing various animals; two small bronze wheels each with six spokes, rim decorated with guilloche swirls, suspension hoop to each side, one with one missing. 200 grams total, 39-78 (1 1/2-3 1/4"). The Signo collection, the property of a West London businessman, formed in the late 1980s-early 1990s; collection numbers W-153, Y-328, Y-329, R-650, W-355, academically researched and catalogued by the late Professor Lambert in the early 1990s.
