13th-14th century AD. A large copper bowl with rounded base, inward-sloping sides and a vertical rim; decorated to the exterior surface with a band of calligraphic inscription against a band of arabesque scrolls, interrupted by eight roundels; below this, a band of scrolls and inverted triangles. Cf. Museum of Mediterranean and Near Eastern Antiquities, Stockhom, accession number NM 0093/1935, for similar design. 2.12 kg, 42cm (16 1/2").
