1st-2nd century AD. A bronze toggle of a bearded man, seated and naked apart from a pointed cap on his head, wrists bound and ankles crossed; large transverse hole to the waist. Cf. Roach Smith, C. Catalogue of the Museum of London Antiquities, London, 1854, p.8 for type. 21 grams, 34mm (1 1/2"). From an East London collector; previously in a collection formed between 1990-2000. Fine condition.
