100 BC-250 AD. A terracotta figurine of a standing nude female with applied facial details, headdress, earrings, hair, necklace with pendants and shoulder decorations; mounted on custom-made stand. See Butterwick, K. Heritage of Power. Ancient Sculpture from West Mexico, New York, 2004, page 72 for a similar example. 188 grams, 18.5cm including stand (7 1/4"). Property of a North London gentleman; previously in a private Oxfordshire, UK, collection and with 'Christie's 202' label to base. Often referred to as Colima flat figures, this depiction of a female would have been placed in a shaft tomb to accompany the deceased. Fine condition.
