1250-1251 AD. Class 3c/4 mule? Obv: facing bust with hENRICVS REX:III legend. Rev: long voided cross and pellets dividing HIC OLE OHL VND legend for the moneyer Nichole at London mint. S. 1364/1365 mule; N. 988/989 mule. 1.48 grams. Property of a Kent, UK collector; ex Jim Sazama collection; formerly in US collection; ex Brussels 1908 hoard. The lettering on this coin is of very different character for obverse and reverse; letters to the obverse are large with thick elements as seen in Class 3, while the letters to the reverse are smaller, neater and formed from thin punches, typically as seen in early coins of Class 4; it seems very likely that this coin is a mule between the two types. []Good very fine. Rare.
