TWO SMALL TINNED COPPER BOWLS Iran, late 17th - 18th century Comprising two tinned copper bowls, of similar compressed globular shape, resting on a plain convex base, rising to narrowing shoulders and a splayed neck, with a reinforced circular mouth, the body of the smaller bowl intricately engraved with floral polylobed medallions to the base, split palmette tendrils and stylised lotus and rosette scrolls to the centre, a continuous bold naskh calligraphic band mentioning the names of the Fourteen Innocents flanked by two bands of fretwork on the neck, 5.8cm high and 10.7cm diam.; and the larger bowl similar, with plain body, an ownership cartouche to the base and calligraphic cartouches on vegetal scrolling ground to the neck quoting Ghazal 119 by Hafez, 7.5cm high and 11.4cm diam.
