An ivory netsuke of a Kitsune with a tsuzumi drum from the Kabuki drama, Yoshitsune Senbon-Zakura; the himotoshi formed by the curved tail; together with another ivory netsuke of Daikoku (or another character) holding down a large fish, presumably in a parody of Kadori Miojin with the Namazu; both unsigned, 19th Century (2)For a similar netsuke of the Kitsune and Tsuzumi, compare the wood netsuke by Ittan of Nagoya in the Boston Museum of Fine Arts (17.40/Bequest of Mrs Lydia S. Hays). See also another example in the Metropolitan Museum of Fine Art, New York (10.211.2045/Gift of Mrs Russell Sage, 1910).PLEASE NOTE: THIS ITEM CONTAINS OR IS MADE OF IVORY.
