Chinese Qing Dynasty Kangxi Emperor Reign period porcelain jar. Sturdy potted porcelain jar in a large globular shape, shallow basin circumscribed with a curvaceous wall of porcelain, supported the wide gallery opening, with robust shoulder region curving into a feminine waist that extends gently tapered toward the flat base, all the way to the bottom forming the raised circular base. Hand painted ornamentations are rendered in Egg yellow underglaze base color. The immaculate porcelain body is covered with a characteristic silky glaze. Ribbed feminine body rises naturally into a straight long neck, outward at the ovoid opening. The exterior Painted with beautiful lemon-yellow glaze background is balanced, elegant and exquisite, which terminates at the base to reveal the pure white underglaze. The yellow glaze creates a mottled effect around the rim which is likened unto the blushing of human skin. The foot rim reveals the cut edges during the making process, and the receded central interior base left white underglaze. This inadvertently gave texture, energy, and shading to the design. This piece displays a subtle sheen as the light ricochets across the finely glazed exterior.
