A carved limestone Early Dynastic II cylinder seal from North Syria with a series of figures, two registers divided by a broad line; above a male figure facing left, a gazelle and a bull, back to back in opposite directions, behind it something unrecognisable; below a bull facing left with a bird on the back, two men back to back in opposite directions, something unrecognisable, and a caprid with a fish above the back; accompanied by a museum-quality impression. For this picture cf. Buchanan, B. Early Near Eastern Seals in the Yale Babylonian Collection, New Haven, London, 1981, p.134 & 135, fig.360. 18.83 grams, 48mm (2"). From a private collection of seals and amulets, the property of a Canadian gentleman living in London; from his father's collection formed in the late 1960s to 1980s.
