4th-6th century AD. A carved agate stamp seal depicting a stag's head, accompanied by a museum quality impression and a copy of a typed and signed scholarly note by the late W.G. Lambert, Professor of Assyriology at the University of Birmingham 1970-1993, which states: 'Stamp seal of brown and white agate, 26 x 25 x 14 mm. A plain ellipsc. A stag's head with top-knot framed by wings below. Sassanian, c. 300-600 A.D.'. 16 grams, 28mm (1"). From a private collection of seals and amulets, the property of a Canadian gentleman living in London; from his father's collection formed in the late 1960s to 1980s; inventory number 117.
