A wooden temple votive figure with much original lacquer and original paint, the figure holding a cup and a bottle and wearing a ceremonial hat with an animal-mask front; recess in the back containing a paper prayer, Cotterell collection label to base. 876 grams, 27.5cm (11"). From the Wilkinson collection, Nottinghamshire, formed since 1985; acquired Mellors and Kirk, 3-4 March 2011, lot 334 [part]; previously in the Richard Cotterell collection; acquired by Cotterell in 1997 from Antiquarius Antiques, Kings Road, Chelsea, London, SW3; with old typed Cotterell collection label to base.
