3rd millennium BC. A flat ceramic plate with everted rim, to the centre a painted peacock pecking the ground, wavy line decoration to the sides of the rim. 165 grams, 120mm (4 3/4"). Ex North London gentleman; previously in the private collection of the late David Gold, formed 1970s. 'David Gold amassed a sizable collection of Indus Valley pottery, both vessels and figurative during his retirement, a plaque to David and his brother was recently unveiled by Westminster Council above 43 Carnaby Street, commemorating their business that made Carnaby Street synonymous with fashion in the 1960s' [No Reserve]
