23rd-20th century BC. A bronze stamp seal in the form of quadruped with short ears and tail, accompanied by a typed and signed note by the late W.G. Lambert, Professor of Assyriology at the University of Birmingham, 1970-1993, which states: 'Stamp Seal of Bronze, 40 x 43 x 13mm. This has the shape of what is depicted: a quadruped, perhaps a pig. The face is flat, as is the back, on which is mounted a loop handle with ridges on each side. The face is compartmented, and shows a very big eye and small tail. The legs are short and tucked under the body. This comes from west central Asia and dates to c. 2300-2000 B.C. There is some damage to the tail, but generally this is in good condition. The metal has been conserved.' 26 grams, 48mm (2"). The Signo collection, the property of a West London businessman, formed in the late 1980s-early 1990s; collection number T-411, academically researched and catalogued by the late Professor Lambert in the early 1990s.
