宋人好“斗茶”之风，兔毫盏乃是品茗所用的上品佳具，因此，此盏倍受文人雅士的推崇，对其溢美之词不胜枚举，例如黄庭坚《西江月·茶》中赞美道：“兔褐金丝宝碗，松风蟹眼新汤”。本品器型隽秀，唇口包金，呈撇口斗笠状。胎体厚重呈铁黑色，质坚硬。釉质刚润，腹部釉色由上到下逐渐转黑，及底积聚成玻璃质感很强的厚釉。盏外垂釉滴，流止于足端。盏内在垂流过程中，釉层呈现明显黄褐兔毫纹，丝缕清晰，异常美观。
