Late 3rd-early 2nd millennium BC. A mixed group of bronze stamp[ seals, two accompanied by an old scholarly note, typed and signed by W.G. Lambert, late Professor of Assyriology, University of Birmingham, 1970-1993, which states: (R-714) 'A Stamp Seal of Bronze, 64 x 62 x 22 mm. This is round with flat face and flat back, on which is mounted a handle of inverted U-shape. The design is both compartmented and open-work. It consists of a central Greek cross within a circle that is the inner rim of an outer band with zig-zag outer rim. Four rough triangles are thus left open. This comes from west central Asia and dates to c. 2300-2000 B.C. It is in good condition. The incrustation on the outside could be removed the metal underneath seems to be in fine condition.'; (V-873) 'A Stamp Seal of Bronze, 65 x 63 x 18 mm. This has a round flat face, and flat back, in the centre of which an angular handle has been mounted. The design, which is both compartmented and open-work, consists of a simple cross dividing the circle within a plain outer band. Each arm of this cross is supported by three pairs of diagonal struts, save where there was not enough space, giving the impression of trees or bushes. This comes from west central Asia and dates to c. 2300-2000 B.C. It is covered with incrustation but seems to be sound beneath.' 200 grams total, 42-66mm (1 1/2 - 2 1/2").
