妈祖，以中国东南沿海为中心的海神信仰，又称天妃、天后、天上圣母、娘妈等等，是历、现代 船工、海员、旅客、商人和渔民共同信奉的神祗。妈祖，原名林默，宋建隆元年农历三月二十三日诞生于莆田湄洲岛 [ ，因救助海难于宋太宗雍熙四年 九月初九逝世。妈祖双腿自然弯曲成坐姿，头戴鹤冠，神态自若，。绣袍长裙，双手作捧圭状，岸然端坐之形态。（缺圭）此像铜质较好，分量适中，值得收藏。妈祖造像始于南宋，是我国沿海人民为祈望海上平安而供奉的神祗。
